Description

This gown is made in cooperation with a dear friend of mine. He has a passion for fashion design and has turned this talent into a career as tailor and fashion designer.

Bodice and skirt:
The main fabric of the gown is a light ivory crepe sari with a decorative golden flocking. The upper part of the top is made of ivory jersey. First, we started with Butterick 4445, but the drape of the upper bodice is different. So we started to draft our own pattern to increase the drape at the upper bodice and to work out the right shape for the sleeves. The lower bodice is boned and closes in back with a zipper. There’s a placket set on the upper edge of the lower bodice. It’s made of ivory viscose lining. It’s decorated with some flowers cut from the sari. The edges of the placket and the neckline are decorated with ivory pearls. The upper bodice is self-lined. The rest of the gown is lined with ivory viscose lining. The skirt is a tube with a circumference of 4,5 m which is gathered at the waist. It’s nearly floor-length. I wear elbow-length ivory satin gloves with the dress.

Jewelry:
There’s a lot of jewelry that goes with the costume. A golden hair circlet with rhinestones and pearls and a golden brooch attached at the head behind the hair circlet. The other jewelry is traditional Indian jewelry in gold and ice blue: the choker, earrings and the forearm jewelry.
