Description
I traced a dress I own for the basic pattern. Drafting the sleeves and giant shoulders was a pain; if only they still sold 80's power suit patterns. Her leg pouch is functional, so that's where I keep my wallet at cons. The headpiece and neckpiece have a base of Wonderflex that I attached stretch pleather to.
I was going to cast the various orbs on her costume, but ran short on time. I ended up using christmas ornaments, haha. I did sculpt the forehead and ankle orbs because of their oblong shape. The neck orb is a ladle from the dollar store with the handle hacked off, haha.
The wig was fun to style. I love styling spiky wigs. I use cheap Rave megahold hairspray ($2 a can!) and a hairdryer set on low. It ends up with about 15 coats of hairspray by the end.
If I could change one thing about this dress, it would be the pink material I made the base out of. :/ It's a nice thick cotton, but it wrinkles easily. It's a pain to iron, because I have to avoid touching the iron to the pleather and plastic bits. Ugh! I should have chosen a more wrinkle resistant fabric. Just another lesson I had to learn the hard way.
