Ion was made over a 3 month period - well, sort of. I started Ion in February and then didn't touch him again until May and let me tell you what a mistake that was. Ion wins for being the most tedious, time-consuming costume I have ever made. And he's not even done!
The recipe for Ion: red and blue cotton, gray lining, gold bias tape (lots and lots), gold paint and many many jewels. I don't even want to know how many jewels and rhinestones are on this costume. The coat was made using a modified pattern, the rest I made up! Any armor and dangly bits are made from paper clay, sanded and painted. The sword is made from wood, cut out to the right shape and then coated with masking tape and painted gold. The boots I bought and added the jewels. I think that sums it up!
I loved wearing this costume and I am very proud of it. It was, however, extremely warm to wear and the shoes tried to eat my feet. All in all I hope to wear him again soon (and gets some better photos!).
