Made this for my wonderful boyfriend Furilas, who I finally managed to convince to cosplay with me. So, his first choice (that I also had the skill to actually make) was Magus. It was pretty difficult- I had to redo EVERYTHING at least twice. Urgh. But I managed. And lol, no manly codpiece at his request. Which I was glad to oblige with. I don't think I could sew something like that and not be giggling incessantly throughout.
I also partner him as Schala from Chrono trigger- though for Anime North 2010, I didn't have the time to make it.
So, onto the actual costume construction-
Wig- My task; The base wig is an Ashley 850 in silver-white, straightened, with a widow's peak added, dyed, and styled to hell and back.
Ears- Bought from Aradani's amazing website, type E (large anime).
Earrings- My task; I attached one of my broken silver necklace chains onto a pair of silver ear cuffs (since he doesn't have his ears pierced and a cuff hides the prosthetic ears), and the bottom triangles which are made from stiff plastic painted metallic silver. The glue I used was horrendous stuff. He also lost one at Anime North, so I need to make him a new set. This time, I'll try solder.
Cape- My task; it took me two tries to get it semi-right, but, made of blue galaxy twill and lined in broadcloth (he decided on the in-game version of blue, not the red in the concept art). I drafted the pattern myself, but MY GOD it was a royal pain in the ass. ESPECIALLY figuring out that infernal collar. I'm still not that happy with it, largely because I should have made it more swooshy and a tad longer, so at some point, I'm making him a new and better cape.
Armour- Split between my boyfriend and myself; a woven framework of cardboard keeps the leather (actually leather-look vinyl; we DID intend on real leather, but time, budget and our original order being vastly innapropriate for it made things change) stiff enough to come across as armour/boiled leather. And it laces up the sides. Getting it on is quite an amusing spectacle.
Pants and undershirt- Thrift store finds, since they're easy things. The shirt's a standard tank top, the pants are scrubs with the pockets removed.
Gloves- Will have to get a second pair; in the nick of time, a pair of the right design, but in black instead of brown, were found. They were fine for AN 2010, but definitely getting more accurate ones.
Boots- Bought online from Cosworx, the Captain 105's in brown.
Metal pieces, amulet and scythe- My boyfriend's task. He has those on his own account (Username Furilas). The scythe and amulet were made largely of wood.
