Description

May is such a cutie pie and is definitely my favourite character to play in Guilty Gear. Her personality and actions were really easy for me to slip into, so I figured I would go ahead and make her outfit. It was actually a really simple costume to build, and everything sort of fell together perfectly. I found the perfect belt buckle on a belt at a thrift store, and all of the smaller ones came from a leather working section of Hobby Lobby. The only real sewing I did on this was adding the black around the orange. The only thing I disliked about this costume was the shoe covers. I forgot to make them and had to do it last minute using only duct tape. They could look worse.

The anchor is made entirely of cardboard (except for the top ring, which is garden foam). I put a layer of papier maché over it, painted, and there you have it. Not only was it my first big prop to make, it was my first prop period. I'd never tried anything like that before and am very pleased with the results, especially after taking so much time trying to make it as close to scale as possible. It was also my first time playing with Model Magic, and I really like all of the pieces I built with it.

I started the anchor the Saturday before A-kon and finished it on Wednesday. Then I stayed up all night Wednesday to sew everything together before we left Thursday morning. 8Db

edit::
Hat was remade for Tokyo in Tulsa 2009. It's fabric-covered cardboard!! 8Db There are still a few things I need to fix on this outfit (namely the shoes, but I'm thinking about adding eyelets to the belts - indecisive!) before any private photo shooting, but I'm still just as proud of it.

Also, Bohemian (the anchor) withstood a rain storm because I left it on the balcony, and it started pouring during the night. D: AWESOME.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions about the construction of this costume. I've already answered quite a few and will try my best to be clear on anything you might need explained.
