I wanted to do a more elaborate version of umi and chose to do the final armor version.
The costume is fully lined, with hand-painted bias tape attached to all the edges. The front panel has hand-painted gold fabric triangles pieces that were zig-zagged stitched down.
The headband was made with the same blue as the rest of the outfit on bias to stretch over a headband, then applied the bias tape to the headband. the blue gem was a last-minute piece and was made from paperclay and then spray-painted. the spikes on the sides of the headband are made from carved plastic.
I made vinyl gloves to match my 'scaled' vinyl belt and thigh high boots, and casted gems etc- I was fortunate to find boots that fit my legs, because most of the time they have a huge gap at the top, but thankfully not this time!
