Description

wow this thing was made in 4 days it was kinda crazy XD .... well realy crazy LOLOLOL

All the armor is made with craft foam usifn a layering technique to achieve depth in the armor. Heat shaping with an iron was also used to curl pieces of craft foam armor. Particullary on the gauntlets... or the lobster tails as Rosa so fittingly calls them. All of the armor connects together with velcrow at different spots. Super glue was used for the glue and it was painted with modge podge and acrylic paint.

The wig was my former tamaki wig that I just restyled a little bit to achieve rek's hair.

The chest armor (Rek's Aerial Bra LOL) is of course craft foam it opens and closes in the back with a seam filled with velcrow and the silver piece st the top of the back also connects with velcrow. The 2 pieces that surround my neck were heat curved and then held up using one piece of craft foam glued to the inside and then bent under the straps and glued. The chest piece was designed based on the pattern I created for rasler but altered to meet reks. The cicular clasp pieces are some of the few that are not entirly craft foam for there is a detail on the cross that is not suppossed to be raised as high as a layer of craft foam so that cross piece is actually made of posterboard.

The upper are armor: Was also designed using old rasler patterns to speed up the process though since rek's armor is simpler than raslers I did not have to add the additional triangle to the armor. All of the armor is held on with the straps only and those of course velcro open and shut.

The lower arm armor (lobster tails): oh gosh sooo many pieces to this. There is a base piece to which all the armor bits are gluedthen straps go under my arm and crisscross to close. The elbow piece was bevel cut in the center up front with a triangle removed to give it the angled look and then on the crnter it was reinforced with a piece of wire to achieve the horizontal curve.

The gloves were kinda last min. The were old gloves that were black and the tips were cut off and hemmed up and the the armor was glued on and the gloves were actually painted with acrylic paint to achieve a dark brown tint.

The waist rag: was some fabric originally bought for fabric backing that I dyed with tea to give it a light tan tint.

The Belt (man skirt) This was a fun piece XD prob one of my favs bc it is so redic looking. The dangling belts were made of a single piece of craft foam with 3 layers of the waist belt added onto the top and then the tips have 3 pieces on either side so 6 for each belt tip times 9 belts. The tenth belt piece XD is the lovely silver center piece XD it has like 7 layers of craft foam so it was really obnoxious to make and wear bc while the other belts are maily 1 layer of craft foam this is not and it does not bend so ya..... sitting requires so ... akward positions XD the center piece can completely detach from the belt and the belt itsself closes on its own with the center piece covering the seam

The Thigh armor (baskets of doom) LOLOL I really need to fix something on those to keep them up bc apparently you lose weight everywhere if you don't eat much at a con lolol who would have though ;) but ya they were designed to be tight on my legs and hold themselfes up but uhhhhh that failed and then kept slipping just enough to make it to where my knees couldn't bend... so I super glued them to my legs :) Don't try that at home TRUST ME it hurts !!!! Anywho The baskets were made by weaving pieces of craft foam around my legs and then they were attached to the knee socks and those also had the knee armor glued to them.

The lower leg armor was made in 2 pieces the front decorative piece and the back piece which wraps around the back of my leg but had triangles taken out at the top to make it tighter as it got closer to my knee.

The shoes were made from the sole of a flip flop and lots of trial and error with the craft foam and just wrapping it around my foot.

The under garmets (bootie shorts and man 1/2 shirt) were made by Rosabella. along with the knee socks. She also helped out cutting out a lot of the armor pieces after I designed them to help speed up the process in order to get the costume done in time to wear at AZ.
