Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Last Updated: 05-06-2011

This is my favorite costume without a doubt. It started a while back when I was corralled to play the small part of Snow White in a production of Into the Woods, from there I longed to make an accurate costume that I could call my own. The reactions from both children and adults is priceless. I've gotten surprise hugs from toddlers to compliments from older ladies that hobble over to just tell me how much I look like the animated princess. At one point a convention security guard came over and asked for a picture, explaining he's always wanted to meet Snow White -- it's not only magical for others but also for myself :)

This costume is a perpetual work-in-progress -- you can tell by the slow progression of changes in every picture, lol. But I love wearing this, I took my own artistic liberties while making this to make it special. The skirt is kinda heavy, itís made of 4-5 yards of Calico Ďprintí from Joannís, but itís not really a print as much as itís fabric that's been painted yellow with sparkles shellacked on, it makes it difficult to iron because heating it makes it feel like rubber. :| But it adds to the whole ~magical princess glitter~. There's also a layer of organza I added on top to soften the look.
I made the cape from velveteen and lined it as well. The sleeves on my velveteen top are made from the same material and include leftover pieces of fabric from my Alice costume.
I also made a pair of bloomers and petticoat from a summer skirt I bought from Ross for 4$ and a bunch of tulle.

I've gotten many inquiries regarding my wig, and because of that, I've decided to start doing wig commissions! So send me a PM and I'll get back at you with details!
