Final Fantasy X

THIS IS BY FAR MY WORST COSTUME I'VE EVER MADE. D:
There is so much hate put into this costume hahahhaha. For some reason or another I had decided that the only FFX character I could possibly cosplay was Seymour. I guess it was the whole "lol FF villian" appeal or something. XD
And so....I added him to my list. And then pushed it off for until next year. HOWEVER. TAADAA. Here is Satan's lovechild with Angel Sancutary ANYWAY. D:
There is SO MUCH FABRIC in this costume I can barely stand it. I weighed the robes the other day and they ALONE (sans staff, wig & shoes) weigh 100lbs. Hahhahaha. Its hard to move, shall we say. Both the navy outer robe and red inner robes were made seperate and then attached, both of them are FULLY LINED. Funny story about simply cutting the fabric out.......the pattern I made (because this does NOT exist in real life XD) was so big I had to cut the fabric OUTSIDE. This costume literally ate my room while I was working on it. Agh.
I had to make my own bias for both the obi-belt and the light blue around the outer edges of the robe thingus as well. MOST ANNOYING THING EVER. And yes, I messed up on attaching the lt blue to the navy in a lot of spots. ASK ME IF I CARE. IF I SAY YES, I'M LYING. D:
I spent about 15ish hours OUTSIDE (again) painting the designs on the robe on. I spent another 5-7hrs (didn't really keep track) painting the obi-belt designs on as well. YAY SUNBURN FOR COSPLAY. D:
The sleeves & belt are actually SUPER padded as well, so that it captures the thickness from how it looks in game. Just simply lining those sleeves doesn't make them poof the way Seymour's does. So omg heavy sleeves. @_@ The obi belt isn't heavy though, which is nice. XD
Also, the robe does touch my shoulders or back AT ALL. And when I say at all, I seriously mean AT ALL. That's a big thing I wanted to make sure I got right with him. Let me just say that there is more than just 6 layers of stiff interfacing in that bitch though. EL OH EL.
For the red pieces that cover parts of my chest. I SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THAT PIECE. Its kinda like a bodice really LOL. I noticed in the artwork that it looks kind of pleated but....its not pleated. So I took red piping and layed fabric over piping to get a ridged look. That might be the only part of Seymour I'm actually happy with XD <3
The shoes are customized to look like Seymour's as well, and by using craftfoam I disgued my huge heels (cause LOL Seymour is a BIG MAN.). It works this time. Oohohohohoho.
The staff is made from foamboard, model magic, paperclay, beads and a little bit of OMFG I DO NOT CARE. I seriously didn't anymore hahahhaha. The beads jingle when I walk though, and that makes me smile XD
For the raised face veins I took a piece of ziplock plastic and applyed two layers of puff paint in the design that I wanted. After it dried I painted it and then cut it from the plastic using an excato knife.
Another thing I learned from Seymour....BEADS ARE EXPSENIVE. I'm never doing an Amano cosplay. EVER. (....well....I say that but....I'll probably end up doing one one day XDDD)
Now for the part of the costume that made me HATE IT SO MUCH. THAT GODDAMN WIG.
I made 3 hair extention foamboard-base tendrils. Handdyed it all to have a matching graident to the artwork (but in a darker blue, since teal looks horrible with my skin LOLLLLL). But then hell kicked in and it turns out that I am RETARDED and made totally unbalanced hair tendrils ugh. I finally managed to wrangle the center one in (lol seymour unicorn) but the other two were so heavy that it was impossible. The morning of Otakon (where Seymour debutted) I still hadn't gotten them to work, so we took foamboard, covered it in craftfoam and painted it blue. And then duct taped it to the inner structure. NO LIES SUPER GHETTO DOES IT LOOK LIKE I CARE AT THIS POINT. D: XDDDD
Maybe one day I'll fix it, but its very doubtful. XD I guess I can at least say I've made a Seymour costume hahahahahhaha.
