Kuchiki Byakuya

Bleach

Status: 100% finished | Debuted: Oni-Con 2005 | Retired: A-Kon 17 (2006)

Description

Byakuya was a lot of fun to wear, especially since my friends and I had a large Bleach group going. It was also just right temperature-wise [compared to some of my other cosplays].

Most of the cosplay was handmade, with the exception of the waraji. Although our Isane made amazing waraji out of rope. The gi and haori were fairly simple to make, as well as the scarf and hand covers. Although I'm not sure why Byakuya has such a fancy name for the piece of cloth that's the scarf - Ginpaku Kazahana no Uzuginu. ;;;

The kenseikaan [the hairpieces] were made with hard felt, wire, and elastic. They easily clip into hair... but I used a complicated clip matrix which took half an hour to put on... and then actually thread my hair through them like Byakuya wears it.
