Description

- Top hat - I did not make it but I did go out of my way to buy a vintage one. It's Beaver skin though I'm not quite sure of the actual date. I estimate somewhere in late 1890s or early 1900s. The black roses and feathers are sewed to the black ribbon which just slides on and off the hat.

- Couldn't find black fake roses so had to spray paint white ones black. And take off the steams and a few layers of the original roses as they were too big.

- The pin is made of sculpe and I tried to paint the design on as best I could, based off of the Sebastian pin they sell online. The strings of beads were beaded myself using various sized silver beads.

- The jacket is fully lined and was made of baby silk. Since he is sitting on the jacket in the image, I had to invent how the back of it looked. I decided to give it a long train that flares out due to noticing that parts of it hang over the chair he sits on. The ruffles on the bottom of the jacket were all made by me using gathering stitches and go the full length of the jacket. I then added a bow to the back of the jacket to give it a little extra flare.

- The shirt is made of a silky fabric that I forgot the name of but I chose it based on the way it fell so I could get the right look to the cuffs which are a combination of elastic and gathered stitches. All seams of the shirt are french stitched and I used a rolled edge on the Serger for the ends. The back of the shirt is slightly longer in the back as you can see it hanging underneath the back of the jacket in the image.

- There are 26 buttons total and they are all functional.

- Underneath the jacket is a bustle like thing. It attaches around my waist with gro-grain and extends slightly past the train of the jacket. I couldn't find a patterned fabric like the one in the image so I ended up embroidering the design on the fabric myself. Then tacked up the various layers of the bustle by hand.

- The shorts were also made of baby silk and probably the most frustrating part of this costume as it took me forever to get them fitted and to not bunch at the sides. They have a fully functional zipper fly and lined pockets.

- I also made the sock garters, gloves, and eye patch. The bows on my shoes are clips so not to mess up my lovely dress shoes. The riding crop, rings, and socks were bought.
