As others have observed, the box was the most difficult part to construct. I used thin wood since I didn't want it to get too heavy. I couldn't think of a way to combine the lightness with unrevealed hinges, however. It was important, also, to learn not to bump into people.

Learning how to use the contacts was definitely interesting (though I wish I had been able to get proper costume contacts and not just plain-o standard green). The shirt, socks, shoes, and trousers were things I already owned.

The most disappointing part of the costume was the wig. I'll have to do more to invest in quality head-wear.

The most unexpected part of the costume was the heat that the box retained! Wood is an insulator, not a conductor, so my back got much warmer (and therefore, sweatier) than I had anticipated. Yes, it's July in Baltimore, but the box prevents circulation, so even inside the convention center, not great.
