I don't really care for Rinoa, but initially I had chosen to cosplay her because a couple of my very good friends wanted to do Selphie and Quistis, for which they already had costumes. Unfortunately, plans fell through, but I went ahead and finished Rinoa anyway.
After going through 3 different types of fabric, I finally found a lovely ribbed knit cotton, and hand dyed it using Evening Blue from Rit to get the color I wanted. The trim I know is a little off, but that's mostly because I had tried to dye some bias tape to match (yes Rinoa's duster does have a trim in the cut scenes), but that failing...I found some that was really close in my shed, mixed in with my sewing supplies! The wings on the back were hand painted by me, using an applique marker, and the shorts were modified (shortened) and zippers added in. The skirt was made by me, using a cheap but sturdy calico fabric that I fell in love with (I didn't want to do a denim skirt, I liked the idea of the calico better), and the shoes belong to my mom. XD
I wefted the wig myself, after realizing the color was a little lighter than it should have been (oops! for some reason I thought she had brown hair, not black), and of course I added the highlights myself. I need to stop wefting wigs. Clearly.
The weapon Shooting Star was graciously made for me by my good friend kuraudo_strife (his props are FIRST RATE, and TOTALLY KICK BUTT!!) to go along with this costume :D
