This was by far the most labor intensive and STRESSFUL costume that I've ever made, but I'm actually very pleased with how it turned out so I guess all's fair! About 90% of this was made in one night - the Friday before the con that it premiered at actually - and my loverboy/cosplay partner and I worked non-stop from 2 o'clock in the afternoon until 7:30 the following morning. Don't even ask us how we had enough energy for a con after that, because even I'm not sure!
The wig is a hand-dyed costume store wig that was originally blonde with blue streaks, but it actually dyed to a nice turquoise without too much trouble. I was really worried that the blue streaks wouldn't even out, but they actually give it a nice subtle depth so I'm pretty happy nonetheless!
My favorite part of this whole costume, though, is the Hiruiseki Stone necklace - it's kind of hard to see and definitely wasn't very noticeable when worn, but my loverboy (who cosplayed as Hiei) wore a matching one and ONE person at Mini Megacon noticed which made me SO unbelievably happy. Seriously. I love putting little details into costumes, and having them be recognized is why I cosplay in the first place. I'm just sad we didn't take home any awards from the cosplay contest! :<
