Sailor Saturn - Hotaru Tomoe

Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon S

Last Updated: 01-04-2012

This was on my wish list since end 2009 and normally foreseen for Japan Expo 2010. Eventually it was finished a year later and worn for the first time at Japan Expo 2011.

I always wanted to make this version since this Saturn is my favorite of the Sailors. The pure heart crystal drew my attention and it seemed quite a challenge to make it! The only thing changed was the color of the fabric, usually in the manga it seems more blue-ish but since saturn is more known as "the purple sailor", purple fabric was chosen.

The costume consists of: purple fabric satin stretch (hard to find + little expensive!), white lycra and teddy bear stuffing.

The boot covers were made from the same satin stretch, put holes in it and the shoe laces were recovered from my grandmother.

As for the gloves, these were my old gloves of my previous saturn, made shorter and added the purple end to it. The purple "arm bracelets" were made from the same satin stretch + stuffing and 2 AB rhinestones.

As for the jewelery (crystal, earrings + necklace part): all are real Swarovski AB crystals.
These were quite expensive, luckily some were already in my possession.

The pure heart crystal itself is heavy so there were 3 methods used to keep it in place.

Lastly the tiara: the base was plastic, covered in gold lame fabric (like Prince Ali's shoes) completed with: shiny ribbon, sparkling glitter paint and a crystal stone.

The silent glaive: re-used the previous one and altered the parts where needed. Unfortunately I could not bring it with me to Japan Expo.

Price: + 100 €
