Description
I've been DYING to do a decent Sailor Moon cosplay for the longest time, and I've finally found time and opportunity to do it.
I decided to go with satin (as much as people RAEG against it) because Naoko's artbook illustrations of the eternal sailor forms are shiny as all hell, I believe that's what Naoko Intended, and I'm not exactly going to argue with that.
Song of Amazon acquired for me a beautiful yellow-blonde mix wig from Maple-Wig while she was in Japan, but it was quite the pain to style. When I pulled the pigtails up high, it created large bald spots on the front just above the bangs of each side. Luckily they were easy to weft over.
I used brass hobby enamel paints on the moons -- for future reference, while enamel paints are beautiful and shiny -- they sometimes never dry and tend to pick up things like fabric textures and carpet fibers. Also, sealants turns the brass color brown.
Wings, wings, wings, I don't like giant wings. People run into them, they get knocked around, askew, they break -- so I decided to make a foamies pair the size of a backbow to save me a lot of pain.
And I cheaped out on the boots and decided to not do the 'v' shape in the front. Altering boots is a hell and a half, and I won't lie I just didn't want to make boot covers. I hate those things. Yeah cry moar.
Now if I could just look less angry all the time.
