Sailor Mars

Sailor Moon

This costume was a challenge for me mostly because I had to sew everything by hand. It took me about three months working on and off to complete this.

I started with my skirt. I took three circle skirts, sewed them together and and pleated the skirts and attached it to an elastic waste band. Next I did my bows. I had to do the front bow twice because I hated the fabric I used the first time. I used tutorials from online to make the bows. I really love how my bows turned out. My back bow is my favorite part of my costume. I then did my collar. I made the front part too short but I was able to hide it with the bow.

Making the body suit was a challenge. I couldn't find the right fabric so I had to get a relative to buy some for me in another town. Sadly it had peace signs on it, but they were very faint so I was able to use the fabric. I then took an old figure skating outfit and cut it up to use as a pattern. I made the top part and instead of making the bottom part I just sewed that to my skirt, so my costume became a dress. I then made my hip roll by sewing batting in a v-shape to the dress and covering it with fabric. I made my shoulders by taking 2 layers of batting and covering that in fabric. The shoulders were done last minute and not attached to the costume right or measured right so I am going to redo them before my photo shoot. I then made the red part on the gloves by taking batting and covering it in fabric. I ordered the Kelly wig from cosworx but it didn't come in time so I had to buy a Halloween wig. It looked alright and was good for the 2 days I needed it.
