Description
This was the first costume that I made from a video game, it was also the first one I made without needing to ask my mother time and time again for help (example: "Mom, the sewing machine isn't working..." Her reply: "You have to hold down the pedal!" ^_^;) I really enjoyed making this costume because I found the perfect orange color for it, plus this was the first time that both my sister and I cosplayed from the same thing. She was cosplaying as Genis. I used the same method I used with the Rind boots for the Raine boots. To be honest, that was the hardest part... Even the bias tape was easier. I used a pair of old sweatpants and sewed buttons onto them for the black pants. The shirt was not storebought, we (my mom and I) made it ourselves out of some t-shirt material which was good since it stretched. I would have done the costume completely on my own and it would have turned out fine... But I procrastinated a little too long and so I needed my mother's skills at doing things of the same quality but faster. The coat is made up of two pieces. They are not sewn completely together, mainly because it would have looked funny in the back. The Ex-sphere glove is my sister's design. No pattern or anything, she just came up with it on her own. I made the staff from a candlestick and a dowel. I then wrapped the dowel with white duct tape and painted the candlestick. I then attached the styrofoam ring with the ornament supended in it two the candlestick using hot glue (which didn't last very long, the ring started to tilt as time went by at the con. I was in a hurry so I had to make do). The ornament inside is a styrofoam egg with countless numbers of sequins painstakingly pinned in.
Overall I really liked the way this costume turned out, the only thing I would change would be to fix the staff.
Final note: Yes I know I'm not wearing a wig... And to be honest I don't think I will wear one anytime soon for any of my costumes. The main reason is that I don't like them. The second main reason is: I might be allergic to them... or at least, the material used in the part that is in contact with the scalp. My mom can't wear wigs because of that very same reason, so, there you go.
I will have pictures later, I promise!
