Description
This costume needs a bit of work before I wear it again, but that's okay. The dress is made of stretch velvet with a stretch lame applique, and worn over a specially-made corset; the skirt is brushed rayon, which I love and have never had a good excuse to use before. (Historical accuracy? Steampunk doesn't need no stinking historical accuracy! Mwahaha!) I added the embroidered stars to the skirt because it seemed a little plain in the original figure, and I thought the stars would make it more reminiscent of her traditional design. The armbands, choker star, and dress stars are craft foam, carved all over with curlicues. The tiara is made of sequin paper, with the black lattice section printed on a transparency that I overlaid onto it (I tried for a layered cutout look but it just wasn't working, so the day before the con I came up with this instead...). The gloves and wig are purchased.
This costume was a lot of fun to wear; I was a little worried that people might say "Wonder Woman? What the heck, that's not steampunk enough!" but instead everyone loved it. (And it was pretty comfy for a change! Although I still had no place to carry anything...) Now I just have to try and recruit more people for the Gaslight Justice League... ^_^
