This costume originally was supposed to fill in for one of my friend's friends...but she ended up being Lal in the end, so...I have left with massive leg warmers and a wig, so it will be pushed back to not make a rushed cosplay XDD I do love Lal though, she's just a strong yet angsty character it's wonderful. Not to mention the wig I got for her is GORGEOUS--who knew there was an anime wig line? XDD
Planning to make everything, including gorilla-parrot armor (the one that sits on her shoulder XDD) lighting up at the eyes, ooo~~ XDD
11/30 EDIT: Okay, the costume has really taken off. I managed to find some orange lens goggles (those are hard to find...) and have painted, craft foamed, and designed them. In addition, found the PERFECT shirt fabric and have sculpted the rings and pacifier out of model magic XD The shoes have been bought and are already painted. Yay progress!
1/11: The costume was successfully debuted and was a HIT! at ALA :3 Thanks to everyone who made me feel so special! <33 Okay, goggles already explained...shirt was crafted from a loose pattern, as was the sleeve. The gun was spraypainted and crafted from paperclay with a cardboard and needlepoint base (lol), while the gorilla was made with cardboard and plaster of paris. The cloak was HAND-DYED (which is why there are still spots...I have to remove those, grr...), but turned out well. The shoes were painted, but the paint kinda chipped off during the night, haha. There are not a lot of pics with the cloak on since it was HOT and heavy, so I preferred wearing the under clothing (even if my pudge showed a bit XD). Oh! The belt was bought at Joann's and painted and the claws were added but they fell off slowly during the con, haha. I had box weapons but their snaps fell off as well XDD It needs some work before AX, but it's not doing away! >3<
6/1: Lal was the most fun costume to wear at Fanime!! :DD I finally got the cape to work via a huge line of snaps, and thanks to the help of a DA cosplayer, I finally got the gorilla to stick on too! I got the headphones to stay on my head via hairclips as well, and I redid the shirt for the cosplay and made it out of a knit inside (it was a LOT better, yay). The white paint on my shoes became craft foam, which was a good thing. I tried magnets this time for my box weapons and ended up losing all of them T_T It was a bit sad, but in the end I scrapped my hand gun too in hopes of making a better one for AX. But the costume is finally being perfected! <3
