Description

Phew! This one was a bitch to make! My original goal when I started it was to make it completely out of leather, but I ended up using vinyl for about half of it (mainly because I saw some neat stuff at the fabric store that I couldn't pass up). There are a lot of nice details that don't show: The gloves and collar are made out of red upholstery vinyl that has little dots on it (a texture--not a print, I've seen it called "ostrich skin") and the bodice is made out of shiny black upholstery vinyl that has a snakeskin texture. The pants (which you don't really see in this pic) are "pleather" (store bought) but I stitched on "chaps" that are made of real leather. The boots (which also don't show) were made from an old pair of actual boots that I built onto, using Sculpey Super-Flex for the toes (look at a pic of the real Raziel sometime--my boots look pretty much like his) and upholstery vinyl for the detailing. The cape is linen. Look closely at the hands--I had made "talons" out of cardboard that I filled with paper clay for stability, which I slipped inside the pointed fingers of the gloves to give the appearance of claws. The armor on the shoulder and on the arms was made out of tooling leather.

The wings were made from a combination of small curtain rods and wire hangers, covered in translucent fabric for the membranes. The "bones" and such are actually "plush" and were made of fabric which I applied with little dots of hot glue, and stuffed with fiber fill.
