Truly a labor of love/ My first "real" crossplay, whoo! (I say 'real' because my last crossplay was bought on the internet- no offense but making it was really an experience.) Although I really want to re-make the visor for my next con, my Godot outfit got raving comments from fans of the series, cosplayers of the series, and just random people that ran up to glomp me. XD
It was really fun to crossplay at the convention (the badge-lady actually thought I was a man), but moreso as Godot. I roleplay Godot on a few different places, so getting to put that manry swagger in my step and talk like him was a lot of fun. I even had a Mia, fwee! <3
And now, to the COSTUME itself.
I cannot TELL you how many places I had to go to look for a white mug. As you can see, the one I usedin the pictures is silver, but have no fear- I FINALLY found a white mug for my next con, at a Thrift Store, of course. Case in point- Thrift stores save lives.
I ended up dyeing the shirt I used myself turquoise because I couldn't find a shirt like that, either. I'm going to experiment on another fabric to see if I an make said turquoise slightly darker, but I was overall satisfied with that. Pants/belt/tie was easy enough to find.
As for the vest, My mom helped me adjust one of my brothers' old vests and overlay some beige-ish fabric to sew on top, and because of time constraints, goold ol' Sharpie pinstripes was more than enough. XD The vest was edited in a way to hide my womanly curves, and it worked swimmingly. If only it could adjust my height... OTL
The wig was a spikey wig that I painstakenly combed back enough to hide the poof and sprayed the spikes in place with hairspray. I trimmed it a bit, but I think it worked well enough too. And of course, stubble/scar was pencilled on, and the contacts just made everyones jaw drop.
And now, the visor. XD Oh lord, the visor.
I used Foamies craft foam to make the base of the visor, spraypaint for the silver/black, glasses legs to put the visor on, ElWire to make it light up (yes, it lights up!), lots of hot glue, and cellophane for the red.
... Never. Use cellophane. It was really hard to see through. The spraypaint kept coming off on my face, which also sucked. But overall, it was okay. I need to re-make it with some plexiglass for the red and maybe some sturdier foam, but overall, I was happy. People were impressed, which made my ego-boost that much greater. XD And that's about it, really. Any other questions, just ask, I guess. <3
