I played Soul Calibur for years and wanted to do a character that would suit my body type. But Kami was the one that stuck out to me, and I wanted to do the uncommon color variant, and I've always wanted to do a blue haired character.
I started the costume in February in hopes of finishing it for ACen, but I became really weight conscience and stopped. But the support from TaRu and others really made me finish it.
The Kimono was what was first made, and lined. But after thinking through how I was going to do the flames I took the lining out and appliquéd them on, I am aware that the flames are too dark and the bow a little too light.
The bow was fun, its basically a ring that I stitched felt to a inside seam then sewed the strands that hang down and glued the middle piece. Then theres a ring to hold it into belt, which I will remake before further usage.
I made all the undergarments with a knit and glued gauze to. The leggings were done the same way although I won't suggest doing it for others. The gauze didn't hold up and started to look a little messy. Next time I'll order a pair of thigh highs and work on it that way, although they did stay up pretty good with aid of tape.
The wig is a femme fatale, I usually style in chunks, but I had a hard time with it this time. The horns were sculpey sewn into the wig. Next time I'll go the resin route.
Overall I was very happy and thanks again to TaRu for pushing me when I didn't think I could finish it
