Finally finished: September 28th 2010 @_@
So, I didn't make any part of it except for the blindfold (gomennasai). But I couldn't pass up buying the dress and witch hat and faery wings that were absolutely perfect for what I wanted to do.
My version for Halloween Rider is a witchy faery. Yes. Faery. That is the true spelling.
The dress is stretchy and a dark purple, while the hat has jagged edges of the tulle and is a much lighter shade of purple (roughly the same colour as the shade on my dress for Rider's regular skimpy dress). The high heels are the same one I shall use for girl!Sephiroth (to debut at Anime North 2011).
The wings I bought at Value Village (they're a pair of Alter Ego wings). I wanted to buy a pair last year, but I got them this year so I could make this :) So there's about... four different shades of purple that make up the costume, plus the black in the hat and heels.
Admittedly yes it's a very mix and match costume, but for the versions of faeries that I will one day do (I plan to make an original faery costume one day), they will be as such because that's how they tend to be in the legends and lore of Ireland.
To be honest, I'm figuring out the makeup, and it will likely change with each wear because a faery's symbols are almost in constant change.
