Description

I've just always liked Carly--I love Transformers to death, but nearly every female character was smarmy and/or inept and Carly gave it a much-needed shot in the arm. Aside from that, I don't know what came over me, but I was bored at work one day and decided that I just HAD to make this costume. I ordered a lot of it on eBay, but I ended up not using a lot of what I ordered.

The dark blue vest is something I had in my closet for YEARS but haven't worn it since college, so I was anxious to do something with it. The blue blouse is just a satin blouse I had laying around that I don't wear much (I'd gotten one off of eBay, but ended up not liking it). The pants are a pair of black denim leggings that I wear a lot (I'd ordered a pair of dark blue pants off of eBay, but at the last minute I decided I didn't like them).

The pendant I made out of some smooth cardboard and some creative metallic spray painting. My favorite part is the wig, and I surprised myself because I didn't know if I could pull off being a blonde--I think the end result is pretty convincing (if you ignore my eyebrows =P).

Aside from the pendant, the part that was the biggest pain was altering the vest--it originally hung straight down, and I wanted it to be more fitted, so I had to take it in and put a couple of darts in it. I also added all that white trim, but I took the "easy" way out and did it with iron-on adhesive.

The end result is kind of ghetto, but I don't consider it finished. I plan on ripping off the trim and starting over with that part, getting a blouse that's a more accurate style and color, and getting some dark blue jeans (slacks didn't look right with the leg warmers).
