Urg. A ton of work all last minute. Born from the thought, "hey, I'm already bringing one version of Griffith to Anime Expo...it would be cool if I could do his formal clothes for the Masqerade Ball..." I basically had a ton of big projects left to do when I decided to do this...a few months before the con. Needless to say, this is a not-quite-accurate anime version that I plan to upgrade to the manga version by next AX.
Okay, the details:
Shoes- pair of boring brown Goodwill shoes that I painted an intense shade of purple (not too many coats...didn't want them to crack and peel) and sealed with acrylic sealant. The periwinkle bows are hand-made and were glued onto the shoes with E6000.
The white "socks" are a pair of dancing tights...nice and opaque...er...but not really period.
The pants, "tunic", and overcoat are all simplicity patterns...two of them, actually, that I combined and modified. The pants are a stretchy knit fabric while the "tunic" is lavender polyester shintang. The overcoat is a combination of perwinkle satin and plum crepe satin. The white blouse/shirt is just that...some hideous thing that I actually had in my closet...it's really heavy material with lots of ruffles.
The giant dark blue ascot/bow thing: also made of satin.
The gold bling and shoulder "pads": Erg. I'm remaking the shoulders. I made them last minute at the con and they are so NOT accurate. The bling on the capulet....all hand cut and hand painted pieces of craft foam...this took several hours to do. The worse thing is....I think I'm going to redo it.
Hmph. How about, "Most likely to be mistaken for a girl".....
