Suigintou's an awesome character, so I had to cos her.
I'm actually very pleased with this costume! It's so comfortable and swishy~ The wings were fun to make, too.
The dress itself is made of stretch velvet, navy blue. Depending on which way you look at it from, the dress is anywhere from black to dark blue. It's strange, but also really cool, since the references also range from black to dark blue. The trim is something I had lying around.
The white parts are made from cream Duchesse satin... Favorite. Fabric. Ever. It's so pleasant to work with, shimmery but not shiny, and holds ruffles well! The arm ruffles are removable armwarmers.
The construction of the dress itself was really easy. I made the pattern for the top, and the skirt was just a simple circle skirt with a row of ruffles at the bottom. The difficult part was conjuring enough patience to roll-hem EVERY SINGLE RUFFLE on the dress.
The wings are movable, and they're made based on a tutorial I found on youtube. The frame is made from wooden dowels and foam, with embroidery floss pulling string to make them move. One boa and a pack of flats were all the feathers I needed. The tips of the wings can also be posed, as they have wire in them. The wings only weigh two pounds! Hurray~
Hoping to get a more accurate wig the next time I wear this.
