Jake Sully - Na'vi Avatar
Avatar (movie)

Luckily, I have a lean physique that resembles the Na'vi quite a bit. This is the first time where having long muscles is better for me than having bulky muscles.
For this costume, I abandoned my usual use of spandex and covered myself with blue bodypaint. I used Wolfe Brothers makeup under the recommendation of IchigoKitty (MisatoNpenpen). Thanks, by the way. I went the whole day without any makeup rubbing off or cracking or flaking.
Wearing the Na'vi thong is showing a bit too much skin, so I covered myself up a bit more with a bigger loincloth.
I didn't have the time to test or practice with putting the makeup on so I had to improvise everything. It took about 3 hours to get completely ready. Despite my inexperience in that field, I still got really good compliments on my work. Even Lea Thompson (from Back To The Future) said she thought that I must have been a professional to do all that by myself. Unfortunately, I completely forgot about putting on the little white dots. I also forgot about my fangs and never practiced putting them in.
I ordered some Avatar accessories from The Noble Collection, but they delayed my order 3 times. The props wouldn't arrive until after the convention so I canceled the order and just replaced the props with faux leather straps.
I found a suitable tail on Amazon, dyed it a light blue, drew the stripes on with a Sharpie, inserted some wire so it wouldn't hang so loosely, and then sewed it on to the back on my loin cloth.
I bought a long wig on eBay. Unfortunately, I got it really cheap so it tangled very easily. I tied the hair back in a braid and stuck some rubber tentacles in the end of it.
I will probably only wear this costume once, mostly due to the preparation I had to go through before the convention. I had to go to a salon and get my legs waxed.
