Final Fantasy XI

Last Updated: 09-01-2010

Decided to do this on a whim. Took quite a bit of time, and cost a bit, too. I still don't have the boots done, but I wore it to Gasukan anyway and it was a lot of fun. 8D

The main coat was made from the ever-popular Matrix trenchcoat pattern, but with modified sleeves as well as a shortened length. The design on the coat was made from scratch, and the whole thing was trimmed with appropriate bias tape for the edges and the basket weave on the sleeves. The gray straps on the front were also made from scratch, and the fabric came from a similarly-colored shirt that I picked up at goodwill.

The teal shirt vest thing (what IS that thing, anyway?) was made from a shirt pattern that I heavily modified, and trimmed with white bias tape. It's attached with velcro on the front.

The cape was made from an old cape pattern I had lying around (butterick 5843), and HEAVILY modified to be the right shape. I trimmed it with bias tape and made the collar from scratch. I originally was going to add interfacing to the back, but it draped somewhat well so I left it alone. XD

I made up a pattern for the eyepatch from scratch and painstakingly glued and then sewed it together using black fabric left over from the coat and some interfacing that I ended up not using. It's put on under the wig and is connected via elastic.

The pendant is made from clay and was painted forever and ever and ever. 8D I used glue to attach the pins on the bottom.

The straps in the front and the belt were made from scratch. The wig is in its original state and unstyled. I bought the leggings and some cheerleading shorts.

I haven't done the boots yet, but I plan to. Eventually.
