Arwen Undomiel (Coronation Gown)
The Lord of the Rings

When I first saw Return of the King, I absolutely fell in love with Arwen's Coronation Gown. Not only is it my favorite color (green!), but its intricate details were absolutely stunning. I was especially amazed with the design of her Butterfly Crown, and wished I could wear such an artistically made wardrobe. Alas, I couldn't hope to make this myself, nor can I take credit for being able to wear such a gorgeous costume.
The dress is the official Lord of the Rings reproduction, which is impressively accurate and well made. I generally dislike "official" movie costumes because their mass production generally leaves out details and uses cheap materials. This is not the case with this dress; it is more like the film's dress than I could have hoped for, and it is remarkably heavy. The sleeves are at least several pounds each!
For the crown, I am also in the debt of another; it is the work of ebay's searscho, who made this for me. She did a wonderful job - I love how the butterfly in the back actually flutters when I hold it up! Thank you so much.
A long wig, elf ears, Evenstar necklace and an old pair of silver prom shoes added the finishing touches to this outfit. It is a lot of fun to wear (although it can be hot if worn in the summer), and is quite comfortable other than the fact it is heavy. I definately feel like an elegant princess!
