I know, Aerith is totally OVERDONE as a cosplay, but I wanted to make something comfortable and easy that required no wig or crazy props. Mainly to have something recognizable for Thursday/Sunday at conventions, and to wear to cosplay outings with the TMCC.
The red jacket was originally a tan jean jacket from the Goodwill that I altered and dyed red (I seamripped the bottom hem edge, cut the jacket, and then sewed the edge back on so it would look better).
The dress is made from two colors of cotton, including handmade bias tape. It's lined with a muslin fabric (which was the mockup to get the shape correct). This dress pattern was originally a formal dress that closed in the back and flared out at the bottom. I moved the opening to the front, added buttons, and reduced the width at the bottom edge. I think it turned out pretty well!
The bangles and bracelets are fun foam, wiggle eyes for the rivets, and a few layers of glue with spray paint on top.
I love the hair materia. It was a rubber bouncy ball that I used a Dremel to drill through. My husband assisted me in pulling clear rubberbands through the hole and knotting another one through them to attach to my ponytail. I originally had one tied in a knot but he helped me make one that loops entirely around, making it more secure.
The boots were a thrift store find. They give me a few inches of height (which is kind of fun) but they're not comfy on the feet. Shoe inserts are a necessity!
