Rrrrraven! Pretty simple costume that everyone adored!
5/26/13: I have five days before A-kon to remake the cape in a much more appropriate blue, color match my shoes, and resin cast new belt gems. It's crunch time! That cape is so old that it's fading, ha ha. Hope to see you all at A-kon in my updated Raven costume!
Leotard: Bought at a dance store. Seriously, they have the perfect turtleneck leotard, and it's pretty comfy! The balls were attached with velcro, that way I could remove them to wash the leotard. ($20)
Boots: Bought at Charlotte Russe, which is a great place to look for colored shoes for costumes. Yes, they're open toed AND platforms, and I think it looks fine. I'm short, so I need the boost. Besides, the blue matched my cape pretty well! ($25)
Cape: Hand made, but I'm gonna make a new one with better blue and better shape overall. AND I'm going to sew combs into the hood to keep it from sliding off every three steps! ($20)
Belt: Made from 2 inch styrofoam balls that I halved, painted, and glossed. I should have sanded them a bit, but I didn't. On the back of each one, I sandwiched a piece of yarn between the styrofoam and a little piece of felt. Then I tied the balls to a gold chain. The communicator is a yellow Bubble Tape container (Look for them around Easter), painted and glossed and hooked onto the belt. ($10)
Wig: I bought a slightly longer than chin length wig from Epic Cosplay (Great quality, American based seller) and took it to a hair school to get it cut right. They cut the length and shaped the bangs, but when I got home, I used Got2b pomade and freezing spray to sculpt the bangs into place, and they held up pretty well!
