Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus
Last Updated: 05-12-2010
The dirge costume of Yuffie to go along as a counterpart to my friend's Yuffie Advent Children costume. No weapon has been made as of yet; I've only borrowed my friend's Yuffie Shuriken to photoshoots.
The budget for this costume (not including the weapon -- I'm not sure how much my friend spent to construct it. It's made of plywood, btw) was surprisingly low: Around $40 for fabrics, buttons, straps, pants, shoes, etc. & $30 for the contact lenses. I do not wear a wig for this costume. It took around two months to make. I was over my friend Rebecca's house over the summer almost every day finishing this costume to use her sewing machine! haha! Most of the time was spent hanging out though. So it wasn't just work-work-work.
When this costume was first completed and I debuted it at comic-con, I didn't know how to use makeup, wore glasses, had no weapon, wore this small white fluffy sweatband (rather than the small black armband I made recently), used duct tape to have the grey stripes on the bootcovers, and the shoes were cheap Rite-Aid shoes that were SO uncomfortable to walk in.
It's so weird how far I've come now: circle lenses, makeup, I painted on the grey stripes and put in zippers on the side, got a different pair of shorts that I could actually fit in.... Hah!
Oh, hell. Just for kicks, here's the link to the FIRST time this costume was worn (stop laughing!): http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v262/81/39/838390634/n838390634_3578801_1295.jpg
This was worn to San Diego Comic-Con '08 & the Socal Cosplay gathering 2010.
Shuriken; Was planning on buying it from ebay, but I borrowed it from my friend instead. The shuriken is made by my friend, Michael. I don't know, maybe in the future I'll make one that isn't nearly as lethal. Haha.
