Final Fantasy IX

I had been meaning to cosplay Zidane for years, but was torn between doing him and Garnet. After replaying the game, I decided I had to make Zidane. RIGHT THEN AND THERE. Nothing says I can't also make Garnet later.
It took about a month and a half to make the entire thing, which included me making Amarant's costume too (worked on them back and forth). Overall I'm pretty happy with it. With my second wear, I redid my cravat and repainted my boots with a more accurate color.
For the tail, I used a VERY thick gague wire that I ran down the length of the tail. To get it to stand out away from my body, I made a little "stand" with the wire, which is a triangle shape that lays flat against my butt, lol. It props the rest of the wire up. It's a bit uncomfortable, and a little strange, but it works! You can't see it, and my tail, as a result, looks lifelike when I walk, as it has a bit of a bounce to it. The wire is also thick enough that I can pose the tail, though over time the wire has gotten weak and I can't do that as much. The whole rig is also attached to a belt that I wear under everything, so it stays in place.
As for my weapon, I went with his Ogre weapon because it is by my favorite of his weapons, plus I hadn't seen anyone else make it yet, so I thought it would be nice to do something different. I made a step-by-step tutorial (sorta) of making my Ogre in my in-progress gallery if you have any questions about the construction. In older photos, it has a bit of a green shine; I painted it with a better blue for my second wear, so it is not so green anymore. :) I also painted the gold parts with a more realistic gold to make it less orangey.
For the first wear, I modified a plastic dagger I bought from a costume shop for the dagger he wears in the hilt. For my second wear, I made the dagger completely from scratch, as you will sort of be able to see in newer photos. It looks way better, lol. I'm so glad I did it.
I wore this costume so many times I decided to make new weapons! As much as I love the Ogre, it is hard to pose with, and a pain to carry around. I wanted to pose with two daggers (it's more iconic, anyway), so I decided to make the Mythril Dagger (pretty!) and the Orichalcon, which is apparently always in his left hand no matter what dagger he has equipped. I was very happy with how they both turned out, and they are much more fun to pose with. :)
Disclaimers: I did not make my gloves, and I followed Hee-Hee's hairline tutorial for my own wig's hairline. :)
