As always, feel free to PM me about costume construction. :)
A little about the costumes:
I made both Hiruko and his origional baku form from my favorite manga Yumekui Kenbun (english title: Nightmare Inspector).
Hiruko worn by me and Baku Hiruko worn by user Msanogi.
I started this project in August of 2009 and only finished the night before the convention. The designs on the baku costume were all hand painted. the head and tail are mostly styrofoam and paper mach-e. As for sewing construction, I really enjoyed using brocades for a touch flavor (plus the manga seems set mostly in a Chinatown-type tea house). So, basically A LOT went into constructing them (and like always, new techniques were explored). Alas, each costume was a definite success.
((PS - if you enjoy either Mushi-hi or Mononoke, I'd definately recommend you give Yumekui Kenbun a read. You won't regret it.)
