Phoenix Wright

Takarazuka: Gyakuten Saiban

Despite this being my second Phoenix Wright costume, I'm not a huge fan of the series. (It's hard to be when you don't own a DS any longer.) However, I DO like what little I've played. The big factor in choosing this costume was Takarazuka. I am a HUGE fan of the Takarazuka Revue and I was incredibly excited to learn that there would be a Bow Hall staging of Phoenix Wright. Ranju Tomu (Phoenix's actress) is one of my favorite Takarasiennes and I decided it would be fun to cosplay her.

One of the things that pushed me into cosplaying Phoenix was that my friends wanted to have a Phoenix Wright photoshoot. I didn't want to war Max Galactica ever again, so I decided to whip this up.

. . .Yeah, I "whipped up" an entire suit based on an extremely complicated Vogue pattern in less than 24 hours. Remind me never to do that again! While this costume doesn't look too bad, it is sloppily constructed in several areas. None of the pockets really work, for one. Despite the big flaws in this outfit I enjoy wearing it. Costumes don't have to be perfect for hall cosplay :P.

The wig used to belong to Sakura but as I don't plan on wearing that outfit again any time soon I didn't mind sacrificing it to this goofy style. It was a lot of fun styling this strange hairstyle. Unfortunately the wig wasn't long enough to make it look exactly like Tomu's hair, but I like it nonetheless.

I made this and these photos were taken shortly before the play premiered, and since Tomu's costume changed a bit from promo photos to the stage, my costume has changed too. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the light pink tie and open jacket, but that's how it looks nowadays!
