I think that because this is my first costume it was allowed to suck some major ass... this was originally supposted to be part of a larger group of Tactics characters, but it fell apart. In the end this was a last ditch effort to complete a costume and it certainly shows. :(

Construction for the Mime kept being put off and put off until the last week or so before the actual convention. Eventually my mom and I decided that it was beyond our capabilities to make an actual mask that I could wear, so instead we based it on the design of the male mime (ie. wearing it backwards on the head). This too longer than expected.

Another major problem was the actual stenciling of the dress. When we went to stencil it on after constuction we found that it didn't really work with the pre constructed dress. Also, as this was done the day of Anime North, we really didn't really have any time to play with it. In the end we compromised and settled only with pieces of the original design. Because of all these set backs the costume started to fall apart on the night I got there.

The majority of my problems at Anime North were with the boot covers. They were too big and therefore kept comming off the base shoes. It made it *really* hard to walk around in until I finally got mad at them and ditched them during the dance. ^_^

Even after all the problems, I have to say that I still love this costume to death. the dress was *really* comfortable, especially to dance in. I'm a pants person, so wearing a short skirt in public was very different for me.

Favourite parts:
The tail- it was just so cute! I fought my mom on it alot, but in the end I really liked it!
The sleeves - I LOVED them! They were big, they were fun, and it just so happened that the stencil on them turned out better than on any other part. ^_^

This costume is now retired. I plan on making a version two. Next time it will be made the right way. ^_^
