Battle City Costume
Last Updated: 10-01-2011
This was part of a pair costume with my housemate T; she wore Kaiba Mokuba and I wore Kaiba Seto. We collaborated on making this costume, and together we made everything except my shoes and socks.
This coat was something of a nightmare to construct. It's primarily boat upholstery (which I went on to use for Gokudera's Varia-hen costume), which is extremely heavy and difficult to sew. As a result, the coat was very heavy and hot. Additionally, we had great difficulty getting the silver buttons to stay. We initially used a hot glue gun, but after about half an hour, the buttons would inevitably fall off. We finally used mounting tape and they have stayed on since then.
T made many of the accessories, including the wrist guards, the KC belt buckle, and the locket. The arm and leg belts are also made of boat upholstery.
Even though it was heavy and a little uncomfortable, I had a lot of fun wearing this costume. T made an adorable Mokuba, and we were stopped for a lot of photos.
This costume was premiered at Otakon 2009 in Baltimore, AZ. I wore it again as "Santa Kaiba" to the 2009/11 Anifest at Mesa Atomic Comics in Mesa, AZ.
