Elizabethan Court Gown
Last Updated: 04-10-2010
Another intense labour of love. I started on this gown last year and made it the week before the opening day of Scarborough Faire, ergo, it was horrendous. But, I decided to remake it instead of scrap it.
I made a completely new bodice and added all the embroidery by hand. Then I decided that it needed paned sleeves because, hey, they look spiffy, and shouldn't those panes be embroidered, too? Yes! Yes, they should! I spent the next year working on the embroidery on and off. There are 3mm AB crystals in the centre of each flower in the embroidery. Then, I decided that the panes needed to be outlined in bugle beads so that I could blind passersby with my sheer blinginess.
I managed to get the dress wearable in time for Scarborough, but I haven't done much to the skirt yet. I want to continue the bodice embroidery on the sides of the skirt opening. I also want to do something with the forepart, but I haven't decided what yet. Right now, I'm rather happy with it all. ^^
