Darkstalkers

I have wanted to make this costume for a very long time but I never thought I could make it. I was worried that it was going to be hard but in fact it wasn't that difficult at all.

Alright to start off with I used a swimsuit pattern for the top. Right now it is still a little lose in the back but I am waiting t see what it will look like with both wings in before I tighten it.

I got the blue stockings and gloves from k-mart. I actually got two pair of stockings and cut the stitching out of the foot and sewed them to a ring to make the gloves. I also cut the legs off and finished the edges to make the top part of the gloves. The feathers (currently not shown) is just a boa cut in half and sewn to the gloves.

I created a pattern for the wings myself and cut the smaller ones out first. I used wiring to give them shape and make them bendable. I may end up remake them later on to make them look a little better. To attach them to the wig I took a headband and painted it purple and attached the headband under the wig with a small section near the top visible. After that small section I sent the headband back through the wefts into the inside of the wig. I then glued the wings to the part of the headband that you could see though the hair. I trimmed and styled the wig from there.

So far the hardest part has been the large wings. I am using the cardboard tubes from dry cleaner hangers for the structure and support of the wings. There is a slit at the base of the wings where a belt passes through and is tied around my waist to hold them up. There is also a small amount of velcro to hold the wings up right.

All of this costume is hand sewn. None of it done with a machine, probably one reason why it is taking so long to do x.x
