Description

What a bugger of a costume >.> It didn't much love me, 'cause it did everything it could to look horrible by the time of the costume contest. ^^

The costume took a while, mostly because the pants were not a piece of cake. They were made from knickers patterns with more, tight fabric added to the bottom. The high waist was just a small piece of fabric that wrapped around my stomach and held with part of it just beneath the pants. The belt was stolen from my Gramma's closet. ^^ Wish it was a little longer, but it's pretty much perfect in every other respect.

The white shirt was store bought. I tried to bind my chest to do a better crossplay... But when I finished binding, I just looked like an A cup, and I literally couldn't breathe. I had to cut it off the moment I finished tightening it. So, yeah, large-chested Gojyo >.> I have since gotten better at binding methods, but they work better with Reno - not so much with a tight shirt. I'm looking for a looser shirt now.

The vest was actually made from the pattern of a jacket, with the collar made more pronoucned and the sleeves left out, along with the darts. The collar didn't like to stay out, however. I guess I didn't press it long enough, because they kept falling close.

Don't even ask about the boots. I started the costume too late to make shoe covers >.<

The weapon, now, was the biggest pain in the ass. I definately won't use cardboard anymore for such props, nor Crayola clay. I've already started remaking the weapon, and hope to make the blades from wood and use better clay for the decorations. The chain was made from silver string, crocheted into a chain. I have started designing my next staff with my friend, who is an amazing prop-maker. The ends will both be made of metal, the staff will still be painted PVC pipe, and chain will be real chain. This one had better stay together.

The staff kept falling apart, in the most embarresing times. The first time it fell completely apart was during my friend's and mine Saiyuki fanpanel, with Greg Ayres watching ^^;; But he did compliment me on the staff, and when I had it back together, he said it was really pretty accurate. The other time it fell apart was on stage during the costume contest, which it why many pictures from said costume contest have me staring in disbelief at the bround where the chain laid, out of the staff, on the floor.

Yes, my hair sucked. I might look for a wig in time for AFO, if not, I might just have to go as a very inaccurately-haired Gojyo.
