Kaibutsu Oujo / Princess Resurrection

This is the other costume I finished for the little con this spring. I finished it in about two weeks. I really wanted to make a weapon for the costume but I just didn't have the time for it, so I bought one. XD Excuse me for that.
I don't remember how I got to know the manga, but now I'm a fan of it. Right when I started to read it I thought it'd be cool to cosplay as Hime. She's so awesome, and her outfit is really my style. XD And for a change I got to make a simple and comfortable costume... I loved to wear it!
I made the shoe covers and glued them onto the base shoes I had bought. The shoes are a bit too large for me, but they had such perfect soles I really wanted to use them. I sewed a zipper in the back and made those little bows to the top even though I was sure nobody would see them when I wear the costume. At first I sewed the bows to the insides of the boots by accident so I had to fix them on the day before the con. DX I was so busy I got a little careless... Anyway, they turned out pretty well for my first shoe covers.
I altered patterns for the dress and sewed it. For the ruffles on the hem I had to cut about 10 meters of white fabric... I got bored while ruffling it. DX I thought making the front of the dress would be more difficult than it was because the seams are placed so weirdly. I managed to make it work anyway. I had some trouble trying to decide how to make the neckline and the grey lines on the front. I ended up glueing posterboard on the back of the neckline and then cutting it in shape... It worked quite well. And for the grey lines I painted some ribbon grey, because they don't sell narrow grey satin ribbon here, and glued right next to the seams. I like how it looks!
The sleeves were by far the easiest part of this costume. I just made them a bit too tight. They have the same ruffled fabric that I put on the dress.
I bought the wig from an eBay store. I fell in love with it because it was exactly the right color, yellowish blonde but not bright yellow, and it curls the same way in the ends as the character's hair. It's also very smooth. It didn't require any styling.
Fortunately I made the crown way before the con... I couldn't have finished it during the last week by any chance. I built it on a hairband that I kept in shape with wire. The base is craft foam that I covered with papier mache. I had some fitting problems with it so I had to make it a bit bigger than it is in the manga... Anyway, that way I could make more crazy details in it. XD I made all the pop-up shapes with modeling paste that I then covered with papier mache. I bought little decorating stone thingies for the pearls on top of the crown. I chose the right sized ones and glued in place. Then I spray painted the crown silver and glued a red diamond in the center.
I wore this costume to Kitacon II in Finland in May 2010. My friends AanZku and Sevdnjes cosplayed as Riza and Reiri. We had a lot of fun!
