In early 2005, I made the swords for a friend's Zoro cosplay, but I got to keep them in the end. However, they got slightly banged up, not to mention they were too big for me, so in my closet they sat until early summer 2011 when I got an email asking if I would be willing to sell them. Being unhappy with the fact that they were simply laying around for 6 years, I said sure and agreed to fix them up. Well, with refurbished swords, I just HAD to make the entire outfit to get some last pictures with my babies, so I threw together a $2 ghetto version so I could at last show them off myself. It actually didn't turn out too horrible considering I had no wig and spent next to nothing!
...the swords are still the stars of the costume, though.
I didn't feel like making an entirely new costume entry since the swords were exactly the same, so here's what I had to say about them previous to having a Zoro costume of my own:
"These are my babies. I love showing them off. I mean, come on, when kids ask if they're real and you get to reply with "No, I made them out of cardboard", you can't NOT love them! These are my favorite props ever. They inspired me to want to be Tashigi since she has a sweet green one. ^_^
Oh, and I made the green belt and an earring, but he didn't have pierced ears so he couldn't wear it. But lucky for me, making the rest of his costume would be easy! I would make a horrible Zoro, but if it means I get to carry my babies around, I'll do it!"
Only took me 6 years and a sale! lol
