My friends had always wanted to have a group cosplay (we were planning a Legend of Zelda one but that fell through). Fullmetal Alchemist was one of the series I dabbled into but never had the time to watch/read to completion, but when my friends mentioned how they wanted to cosplay as some of the characters I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to start a group (it would give me the incentive to finish!)

I had thought about making an Alphonse cosplay (armor of course) almost immediatly after having completed my Dark Suit Samus cosplay- but he presented one too many challenges (height, bulk etc) and I shrunk back. Plus Al is not a one-man show like Samus, as he usually is seen with his brother, Edward. One friend expressed an interest in making Ed, so I decided to go forward with Alphonse.

I'm starting the initial framework soon, and intend to cover the mache with foam and other materials to really get the sleek, smooth look Al has. His angular and relatively flat forms should work well with foam overlays so long as I still have my wire and foil/mache framework. I'm going to be wearing pumps and see out of the "neck grating" rather than the helmet to add to my height.

Edit: This costume may not debut until a year or two from now because of other projects/groups.
