Making my Fang costume took longer than I thought it would! Itís basically finished, but I still feel like I need to fix up a lot of stuff before Iíll be happy with it.
I sewed the black top and armbands from black stretch cotton and made the sari from blue silk dupioni that I was lucky to find pretty cheap. I made my trim from a shinier poly shantung and gold bias tape. I slightly modified the vector pattern by Eileengalvin on DeviantArt(Alessa here on Coscom!) to make a stencil and I both sponge and brush painted the design on to the trim. I still need to alter my sari a bit to get it to fold and fall correctly. I sewed my own fur tails and gradient dyed them with poly dye. I painted my L'cie brand on a thin plastic sheet and I used liquid latex to attach it to my arm. I built my belt out of cord pieces and modified buckles. I made my big belt buckle and my necklaces and earrings out of mostly Super Sculpey. I hand painted and added details on to some silver bangles for my bracelets and braided my armband from cord. I made my own boot covers from vinyl. It was my first time making straps, punching grommets, and working with buckles. I made my lance out of pvc pipe, wood, and air dry clay. I did everything for the lance myself (measurements, patterns, assembly, and painting) except for doing the actual cutting which my dad helped me out with. I built it so that the lance separates into three pieces connected by a chain and the blades can swivel back. I still have to fix it up a bit too. The wig started as a one length brown wig but I styled it by cutting in layers, coloring the tips, and adding in the braided section.
