Saber Lily

I have the completed armored version waiting to be worn at some later date, but I wasn't satisfied with it when giving it a test run the day before Fanime. Because it was just not how I wanted it yet, I decided to wear the dress by itself. There are several pieces of art of her without the armor, and my reference sheet had the design details for how the dress looks sans armor, so that night before the convention I quickly added on the extra trim and decoration. I was lucky to have everything I needed for the variant in my closet (gloves, shoes, etc) so I'm happy I was able to wear at least one version of Saber Lily to Fanime.

On to the construction:
(The dress is too big for me. I let it out a few weeks back thinking I needed to in order for all the layers to work right, but I shouldn't have. I need to take it in before I wear it again D:)

The dress is made of bridal satins. Instead of a pleated skirt, the white skirt is one enormous circle skirt because I wanted a ton of volume. It was about 6 yards of material total. Most of that doesn't even show ^_^
I patterned the whole thing out on packing paper and tracing paper, made a muslin mock up, and refined it from there.
The dress is lined, though hastily, and needs re-doing.
The wig is my second choice for this costume. I bought a different one, wefted it, and attempted to style it to my liking, but it just didn't look how I wanted it to, so I used this wig as a backup. It's a clip on ponytail from a pig tail wig. I cut, straitened, and styled it. I'm not totally in love with it, but it does the job.

All in all, I like how this came out, but there are a lot of *but*s. I'm seeing it as a work in progress.
