Ciel Phantomhive (Robin Dress)

This is the first costume I've ever made myself (and the first dress pattern I've ever made), but I'm not sure why I chose it. ('Cause I dig frilly dresses, no doubt.) I've decided that I must be insane, since most people don't think, "Okay, this is the first cosplay I've ever made, what should I do? VICTORIAN BALLGOWN! 8D" Seriously, what the heck was I thinking?

Well, on a positive note, I managed to make it. I'm actually quite proud of it, too. This monster's going to be my cosplay AND senior project for school. Two birds with one stone. :'D

It was built an hour and forty-five minutes at a time, 5 days a week, over the span of about 2 months. It cost quite a bit, but it was totally worth it.

Overall, it was simple to sew. Nothing was too difficult, but there was a lot to do, and a lot of troubleshooting. Great learning experience, to say the least.

The ruffles... OH GOD THE RUFFLES. That had to be the most painstaking thing I've ever done... No matter how much I sewed there was still a bunch more to do. .___.''

Coming in a close 2nd for tediousness was the hoop skirt. I made it too small and ended up having to add some gathered netting to make it bigger. Sounds easy, right? Not when you have to hand gather 27 yards of it. 27 YARDS..... BY HAND. x-x

I made everything except the wig and the gloves. The wig was from eBay, and the gloves were from my mom's concert days.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. :)
