Alma Karma

Kanda's Past Arc Version

D.Gray-man

Last Updated: 10-07-2010

It's done early, but this costume is for New York Anime Fest 2010. Believe me, it's nice being done early for once!

This is one of the easier costumes I've made. The pants are black sateen and made from a shortened version of that pants pattern I've used for just about everything. (Seriously, Bel, Tyki, Gokudera, Kaiba, Kanda and Alma all have the same pants with minor variations.) The jacket is plain quilting cotton (both the white and the yellow) lined with cheap white lining fabric, and was made almost entirely from scratch; only the collar was from a pattern. The wig is an Airily Wolf base in brown-black, and the head piece (what is that anyway?) is layered craft foam, mod podge, and paint. I used white knee socks and surgical gause for the bandages.

It took me a while to figure out what colors I thought this costume was (since there aren't any color images yet of kiddo!Alma and Kanda). In retrospect, I think yellow and black were good choices for Alma.

Last thoughts: the first thing I did when I put on this costume was eat a whole box of cookies, because if there is anyone in the world who deserves to eat a whole box of cookies, it's Alma Karma.
