I know, I know, in a previous costume description I said I was too old for the tween and teen characters.... But, OMG the purple! I've actually been planning this costume for about three years, so I'm not sure why I've never gotten around to putting this up. Even though IV came out I still love Amy's III costume more, so I'm ignoring that one atm.
I don't really have a lot of comments about the overall construction.... Mine is more based off some of the production art than the game/figure since I used black trim and dark purple roses. I also ignored the black material on the garters since I'm not savvy enough to get all that on there and still have it be stretchy.
Oh, wait, I lied. All the lace was dyed to 'match' meaning that I discovered all the various lace I had for the costume was different blends, so they're all from the same dye bath, but came out completely different colors. The dress is a fully functioning corset inside, with a modesty panel of flesh tone material in the front. I originally made a short petticoat to go under the shorter purple skirt but found it to be unnecessary when I put everything on. All the skull bits were cast and painted, so they're very durable and light weight. Since there was no close up of her choker that was clear I sorta ran with the skull theme. The sleeves will be held up with copious amounts of toupee tape since the roses are ridiculously heavy, but very pretty.
The wig is actually two wigs, since they dont' make extensions in the color I needed(99J, ironically I found a lot later). The second was cut up to use the longer wefts for around the hairline, and the false scalp was cut into multiple peices and run down the back to be a part line. I refused to attempt the back part tutorials I'd found since I live in fear of slagging the whole wig, and this worked out great! It got me the perfect scalp line and extra fiber to pull up so much so that I didn't need to add more wefts to make the pigtails. The pigtails aren't 100% accurate, as I wanted them to be more long sausage curls than the wispy ones she has in the art. After all by IV her hair is ridiculously thick, so this is the 'growing it out stage'. Once again I had issues with parting it, so my bangs are 'backwards' but not much I can do now; remember kiddies, look thrice, cut once, regrets never!
I'm hoping that next year I can talk a friend into doing 'Zorro' Raphael to match...we shall see. Ah, and Albion shall be made by a friend who said it was my b-day gift three years ago :P
