This Queenie had been on my to-do list for a little while, and when the twins asked me to make it for a skit this year, I said YES. Although, it's kinda sad that they asked me in like February/Marchish... but I didn't start it really until 3 days before the con. Money was tight and my original plan for the dress fell through. So I sold some of my things to go out and purchase fabric for the costume.
COLOR BLOCKINGGGGGGGG.
It's pretty rushed looking. The stripes are too big and seem off-center. The fabric wrinkles easily and due to all the layers, makes it impossible to stay ironed nice for long. (It also attracts an ungodly amount of lint). The over-skirt turned out longer than the actual dress so it dragged on the floor (got stepped on and became super dirty).
There are two petticoats under the dress, but it still feels like it's not poofy enough. Yes I had bloomers, but not enough time to paint little red hearts on underneath.
The wig was my old Merryweather wig. I undid the bun, straightened it out and chopped it up to be frazzled. The crown is just craft foam attached to a tiny headband. (Earrings are craft foam as well, attached to clip on earrings because my ears are no longer pierced)
